How do you know it's still the original?

Aqua gives the record a fingerprint: a code that changes whenever the record does. Whoever holds the record can confirm it still matches.

Can someone rewrite an earlier version?

Each fingerprint carries the one before it, so any edit to an earlier version breaks the line of proof at that exact step.

Signed

Did a person or an AI agent really approve it?

It’s signed with a key only the person or agent controls, so no one else can sign in their name. Unlike a handwritten signature, it can’t be copied onto another document.

Do you need the original platform to check it?

No platform to log into. No public ledger. No vendor to ask.

A signed record is not the same as a provable record.

Under eIDAS 2.0, data records in qualified electronic ledgers are legally presumed to be intact and in the correct chronological order.1

Aqua records preserve who signed, what changed, and in which order, so authorised parties can independently verify their history.

Provider independence requires portable proof.

The UK competition authority found that technical and commercial barriers make it difficult for cloud customers to switch providers.3 Since September 2025, the EU Data Act requires providers to remove obstacles to switching.

From 9 December 2026, updated EU product liability rules apply to newly placed products, including software and AI systems.4 If a company fails to disclose relevant evidence ordered by a court, the product’s defectiveness can be presumed.
